Reports have emerged that Neymar is close to parting ways with Paris Saint-Germain and returning to Barcelona.

“A deal between Neymar and Barcelona is imminent,” Catalan outlet La Porteria reported on Wednesday (Nov. 11).

Neymar has been linked with a move away from PSG in recent days. He was expected to join Luis Enrique on the Asian tour and lead the team next season, but ahead of the start of the season, PSG decided not to go with Neymar.

“PSG are pushing Neymar and Marco Verratti away,” said French outlet RMC Sport. “Neymar and Verratti missed PSG’s last training session and were not invited to the official media day. They then met with president Luis Campos and coach Luis Enrique, who told them that the club will not rely on them next season,” explaining that Neymar is out of PSG’s plans for next season.

European soccer transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano also reported on social media that “Neymar’s camp and PSG are looking for the best solution to part ways this summer. Both sides are working on the transfer of Neymar. Neymar has received offers from Al Hilal and Major League Soccer (MLS). Barcelona have to decide if they want to try and sign him.”

Indeed, Lee and other players were spotted at the media day and in official training photos, but Neymar, Verratti, and others were nowhere to be seen.

Neymar has already been linked with a return to Barcelona in recent days, and it has been suggested that he could leave PSG.

He left Barcelona for PSG in 2017 for a then-record €222 million transfer fee. He has since become an iconic star for PSG, scoring 118 goals and providing 77 assists in 173 appearances for the club.

PSG have recently opted to rebuild their squad, selling off old players and bringing in new ones. They’ve already let Messi and Sergio Ramos go this offseason, while bringing in players like Lee Kang-In, Marco Asensio, and Luca Hernandez who could be key additions to the team. Alongside these players, Neymar was expected to be the centerpiece of the team for the foreseeable future, but it appears that PSG has decided to sell Neymar, who has been sidelined by frequent injuries.

According to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, “Neymar and Barcelona have been linked again in recent days. Neymar will sign for Barcelona this summer and the issue is causing a lively debate within the club,” said Mundo Deportivo, reporting on Neymar’s possible return to Barcelona.

Initially, Barcelona were expected to struggle to sign Neymar. “PSG are keen to part ways with Neymar, who could still leave, but it is highly unlikely that Neymar will return to Barcelona,” said Fabrice Hawkins, a journalist familiar with PSG news.

Hawkins cited Neymar’s huge salary as a reason why a return to Barcelona is unlikely. According to L’Equipe, Neymar’s salary for one year at PSG is worth €30 million (approximately $43.1 billion).

However, with Neymar taking a pay cut and Barcelona looking to sell additional stakes in order to solve their financial problems, a return to Barcelona seems to be closer than ever.

“Neymar’s return to Barcelona is imminent,” La Porteria said. Negotiations between the player and the club are very advanced and the signing of Neymar will be finalised after the completion of Barcelona’s sale of a 16 per cent stake in Barça Studios for 60 million euros ($87.4 million).”

“Neymar is willing to reduce his salary and will join Barcelona for €12 million. Neymar’s agent has a very good relationship with president Juan Laporta and led the negotiations,” explaining that Neymar was willing to take a pay cut to join Barcelona.

The media outlet emphasised that Neymar was even prepared to terminate his contract to reduce the burden on Barcelona as much as possible. “It’s all about the negotiations between Neymar and PSG. PSG are positive about Neymar leaving for Barcelona, but at the same time, they find the Saudi offer for Neymar attractive. It is more financially attractive. Neymar’s goal is to end his contract with PSG and return to Barcelona without a transfer fee,” he said, confirming that Neymar and PSG are currently in talks.

Meanwhile, unlike Neymar, Lionel Messi has given up on a move to Barcelona. Messi, who was out of contract at PSG, chose between Barcelona, Al-Hilal, and the MLS before deciding against a return to Barcelona. He revealed that he gave up on a return to Barcelona to prevent other players from being sacrificed because of him following his decision to join Inter Miami.온라인바카라

With Neymar out of the picture with PSG and having been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia and the MLS, it will be interesting to see if a return to Barcelona, where he spent his best years, will mark another turning point in his career.
