Reporter Daehyun Moon = The Major League Baseball (MLB) Houston Astros succeeded in turning the situation around by defeating the Texas Rangers in Game 3 of the American League Championship Series (ALCS, best of 7) held in enemy territory.

Houston defeated Texas 8-5 in Game 3 of the 2023 ALCS held at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, USA on the 19th (Korean time).

Defending champion Houston, who had previously been pushed to the brink by losing two games in a row in games 1 and 2 held at home, started a counterattack by recording a series record of 1 win and 2 losses with this victory.

Texas tried to secure a 97.4% chance of advancing to the World Series with consecutive wins, but was unable to stop the opponent’s attack and suffered its first loss of the series.

Houston starter Christian Javier became the winning pitcher after pitching 5⅔ innings, allowing 3 hits, 1 home run, and 2 runs.

In the batting lineup, Jose Altuve, Jordan Alvarez, and Martin Maldonado each had multiple hits.

Texas lost Game 3 after starting pitcher Max Scherzer, who appeared on the mound a month after an injury, performed poorly, allowing 5 hits, 1 home run, 1 walk, 4 strikeouts, and 5 runs in 4 innings.

Houston succeeded in scoring first in the second inning. During Maldonado’s at-bat with the bases loaded and 2 outs, the opposing pitcher’s wild pitch resulted in one run easily being scored. Afterwards, Maldonado hit a timely hit with 2 RBIs, scoring 3 runs in one go.

In the third inning, Altuve ran away with a large solo shot with a distance of 130 meters against Scherzer, and in the fourth inning, Mauricio Dubon hit an additional timely hit with one out and two on second base, widening the gap to 5-0.

Texas chased with Josh Young’s two-run shot in the fifth inning. However, Houston maintained a 5-run lead with Alvarez’s 2 RBI hit in the top of the 7th inning with the bases loaded and 2 outs.

Texas’ Young followed up with another two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning, but it was not enough to close the gap that had already widened.스포츠토토

Houston made it 8-4 in the top of the 8th inning with Jeremy Pena’s timely hit with first and third base out and no outs. Although he contributed 1 run during the defense in the bottom of the 8th inning, it had no significant impact on the game.

Houston closer Ryan Pressley, who was on the mound in the 9th inning, allowed a walk to leadoff hitter Mitch Garber, but later struck out Nate Rowe and induced a double play against Young, who had previously hit 2 home runs, to secure the victory.
