The younger siblings of the U18 national soccer team will try to win the title against Vietnam first.
The Korea U18 National Team will play their final match of the inaugural Seoul 2023 EOU Cup U-18 International Youth Competition against Vietnam at 4 p.m. on Friday at Mokdongju Stadium in Seoul. With a 1-1 draw, Korea (4 points, +2) is currently in second place, but still has a chance to win the tournament depending on the outcome of their final match.
South Korea will need to score multiple goals against Vietnam to win the title. They do have a head start, as the Morocco-Ukraine match will be played on the same day at 12:30pm. However, to win the title, they will need to win by multiple goals.
The South Korean U18s have been playing fast, concise attacking football under coach Lee Chang-hyun, and will be looking to captain Jung Mah-ho (Shin Pyung-go) and Baek Min-kyu (Pyeongtaek Jinwi FC), who have scored goals in two consecutive matches. It will be interesting to see if the flanking attack, which showed promise in the first game against Ukraine, can be revitalized.
Vietnam’s Nguyen Cong Phuong, born in 2006, is the number one target. He’s only 17 years old, but he’s already making waves in Vietnam, having been named to the Vietnamese team for the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games. He scored his team’s first goal of the tournament on a spectacular free kick. Vietnam will need to be wary of their organized set pieces.
The outcome of Morocco and Ukraine’s first match could change the standings. If Ukraine also beats Morocco, they will have six points (two wins and one loss) and can become the eventual winners if South Korea draws or loses to Vietnam.
For the inaugural Seoul EOU Cup in 2023, the trophy will be made of oak instead of plastic for environmental reasons. There will be three awards: Championship, MVP, and Eco-Play. The Eco-Play award is given to the team that uses the least amount of plastic and is the most active in recycling.스포츠토토
