Hanwha Eagles pitcher Moon Dong-ju (20) failed to get the win.
Moon started the game against the KIA Tigers at Gwangju-Kia Champions Field on July 27. He was perfect through the first three innings, but the Kia bats were too much for him. He gave up five runs on five hits, two walks, and three strikeouts in five innings.
He was flawless until the third inning. He struck out nine batters. He mixed a 150+ mph fastball with a high-speed slider and a curveball, and the KIA batters were helpless. The Tigers scored two runs in the first inning on a solo shot by Kim Tae-yeon and a sacrifice fly by Eurhyup in the fourth.
However, in the fourth inning, the KIA batters took over. Park Chan-ho, who was on fire, hit a single to center field. He then gave up a walk to Kim Do-young. He struck out Na Sung-beom, but Choi Hyung-woo was hit by a pitch to load the bases.
He struck out Socrates on a grounder in front of the pitcher, but it was no good and left an unpleasant aftertaste. He eventually tied the game when a slider he threw to the elusive Kim Sun-bin turned into a three-run double.
In the fifth inning, he struck out the side in order and continued to pitch steadily. But in the top of the sixth, a 153-kilometer fastball to leadoff hitter Kim Do-young was hit into right field for a single. Na also failed to get a favorable count and threw a changeup, allowing a hit that fell between first and second base.
He tried an outside fastball against the experienced Choi Hyung-woo, but gave up a two-run double to left-center field. After giving up three consecutive hits, the Hanwha bench signaled for him to be removed.스포츠토토
It was a disappointing 76-pitch outing. Moon will now have three weeks to recharge his batteries before heading to the Hangzhou Asian Games on September 2 against LG Electronics in Jamsil. He has thrown 114⅓ innings so far. He will approach the 120-inning limit in his next game.
He could have reached the 10-win plateau if he had won both games, including this one, but he failed to do so. Getting hit hard with his fastball is definitely something he needs to work on. His fastball topped out at 155 mph and averaged 150 mph on the day.
