In an eye-catching matchup between upstart teams, the Naju Gwangnam Go (founded in 2019) defeated the Changwon Gongo Baseball Team (founded in 2022) in a hard-fought 8-7 victory to advance to the round of 32.
In Game 2 at Mokdong Baseball Stadium in Seoul, South Korea, on April 21, Gwangnam-Go got off to a rough start as starter Kim Hyun-soo gave up three runs on two hits and four wild pitches in the top of the first inning to fall behind 0-3.
In the top of the fifth inning, Gwangnam Go scored two more runs on two hits, a walk, and an error to fall behind 0-5.
However, there was no quitting for Gwangnamgo. In the bottom of the fifth inning, the team rallied back from a 0-5 deficit by combining two hits to score three runs. With momentum on their side, Gwangnamgo scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning on three wild pitches, a double by Park Min-seo, and an opponent’s error to take a 6-5 lead.
Changwon Gonggo was not done. After tying the game in the seventh with a single by Kwak Yumin, Changwon tied the game again in the eighth with a double by Choi Woo-seo to make it 7-6.
However, Changwon Gongo’s joy was short-lived. In the eighth inning, Gwangnam Go fought back and tied the game with Seo Yoo-jung’s double to the left center wall, and Kim Hyun-soo brought in Seo Yoo-jung with a single to left field to complete the drama of the comeback, 8-7.스포츠토토
In the top of the ninth, Gwangnam-Go’s Kim Tae-woo struck out Lee Jin-woo to end the game. It was a battle between two new teams with two rain interruptions, four hours of game time, and a drama of comebacks, comebacks, and comebacks.
