The St. Louis Cardinals have unsealed a prospect.
The Cardinals announced on Monday that they have recalled shortstop Maysin Wynn, 21, to the active roster with the No. 0 designation.
News of his call-up was first reported by local media outlet The Athletic, citing sources.
Wynn, who is ranked as the Cardinals’ No. 1 prospect by MLB.com and No. 16 in the league, will join the team one day later for a home game against the New York Mets.
Wynn, a second-round pick in the 2020 draft, has spent three seasons in the minors, batting .271 with a .350 on-base percentage and .434 slugging percentage in 321 games.
In 104 games at Triple-A Memphis this season, he batted .283 with a .356 on-base percentage, .465 slugging percentage, 17 home runs, 60 RBIs and 17 doubles.
Baseball America ranked him as having the “best infield arm” and “best athleticism” among Cardinals prospects.
At the 2022 Futures Game, he made headlines with a 100.5-mph infield throw.
He also has quick feet. He attempted 104 stolen bases in the minors, swiped 94, and hit 20 triples.
Just in time, a spot opened up in center field, his preferred position. Nolan Gorman is on the disabled list with a back injury, and Tommy Edmon has seen increased playing time in the outfield.
The Athletic called Wynn one of the top shortstop prospects in the majors and said the call-up was a “logical choice.온라인바카
