Yomiuri Giants’ No. 4 hitter Kazuma Okamoto (27) hits his 32nd home run of the season. He fired up the cannon in the last at-bat of the eighth inning against the Yokohama BayStars at the Tokyo Dome on Aug. 13.

It was his first home run in five games after hitting his 31st against the Hiroshima Carp on Aug. 8. He extended his lead over the Yakult Swallows’ “monster hitter” Munetaka Murakami (23) to 10 games. He has the most home runs in both the Central and Pacific Leagues. In the Pacific League, Hideto Asamura (33) of the Rakuten Eagles leads the way with 21.

After hitting his 31st of the season, his hitting has slowed down a bit. He’s just 2-for-15. Four games passed without a home run or RBI.

Game 13 was also a struggle. In the bottom of the first inning, he hit a single to left before striking out in three straight at-bats.
